"VOTECHORI"

The Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi raised serious allegations against the Election Commission (EC) and the BJP, claiming collusion leading to Votechori. He asserted that this has occurred through several methods:

1) Duplicate voters

2) Fake and invalid addresses

3) Bulk voters registered at a single address

4) Invalid photographs of voters

5) Misuse of Form 6 for registration.

Overall, Rahul Gandhi claims there are about 100,250 ‘fake votes’ in one specific seat. This highlights significant concerns regarding electoral integrity.

Rahul Gandhi in Press Conference said: Congress conducted a six-month investigation, during which they revealed that their internal survey had forecasted victories in 16 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka. However, after only securing nine seats, the party opted for a thorough analysis of one of the seven surprising losses, specifically concentrating on the Bangalore Central constituency.

Rahul claimed that an investigation revealed about 100,250 votes were compromised in the Mahadevapura Assembly seat. The Congress party’s analysis found several issues: there were 11,965 duplicate voters, 40,009 voters registered with fake or incorrect addresses, 10,452 voters linked to single addresses (known as bulk voters), 4,132 voters with invalid photos, and 33,692 voters misusing Form 6, which is designated for new voters.

In his presentation, Rahul asserted that Gurkeerat Singh Dang was registered as a voter across four different booths, each with its own electoral photo identity card (EPIC) number. Additionally, he mentioned that another voter, Aditya Srivastava, appeared on the voter rolls in three different locations: Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai in Maharashtra, and Bengaluru in Karnataka.

'Submit data under oath': Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka

The Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) asked LoP Rahul Gandhi to submit his evidence under oath. The CEO said, "Please sign and return the attached declaration under Rule 20(3)(b) of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, along with the names of the voters you mentioned, so that we can start the necessary actions." This request highlights the need to confirm Mr. Gandhi claims about voting irregularities.

Similarly, The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Uttar Pradesh has stated that Aditya Srivastava is not registered as a voter in the state. Meanwhile, the CEO of Maharashtra also contacted Mr. Gandhi, requesting that he provide his claims under oath.

Election Commission Press Conference on 17 August 2025: ECI Calls for Affidavit or Apology from Rahul Gandhi Over 'Vote Chori' Concerns

The Election Commission of India (ECI) held a press conference addressing allegations of voter list manipulations. This occurred during a time of increased political tensions.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said on Sunday that the claims of "vote theft" and double voting in Bihar are "baseless" and driven by political motives. His comments came shortly after the INDIA bloc parties began the 'Voter' Adhikar Yatra' to protest the ongoing revision of electoral rolls in the state ahead of the elections.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar expressed serious concern over certain parties and their leaders spreading misinformation about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar. He stated that some political parties are using the Election Commission as a shield for their claims.

The Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, is once again claiming "vote theft" when they lose elections. By making these baseless accusations against EVMs and the Election Commission, they seem to disrespect the voters and mislead the public. Instead of looking at their own failures, they always attack the institutions that protect our democracy. This behavior shows their desperation and disconnect from what people really want.
