Everyone knows that the Bihar election results are on the edge, and all political parties are trying their best to claim victory. On the first day of Awaaz-e-Bihar, we will try to understand the real political battlefield of Bihar.

Bihar Assembly elections are not just normal state elections. They will decide the future of the ruling BJP–JDU alliance and the opposition, including Congress and RJD. This election will also decide whether Nitish Kumar’s 20-year political journey continues or comes to an end, whether RJD can come back to power, and if Congress will again have to depend on its alliances like always.

For the BJP, it is a test of its expansion and its ability to convert Hindutva + development into real votes.

For the RJD, it is a battle of survival and legacy.

For Nitish Kumar, it is test of relevance after years of political side switching.

The political story of Bihar has always been full of twists and surprises. In 2020 elections, the NDA managed to stay in power with a margin, but the political ground has changed a lot since then. Nitish Kumar, who has ruled the state for almost two decades  has switched sides many times- from NDA to Mahagathbandhan and then back to NDA again. This has made voters question his loyalty and political stand.

On the other hand, Tejashwi Yadav has tried to rebuild RJD’s image by focusing on youth, jobs and development. Congress, as usual, has remained dependent on alliances and hasn’t been able to build a strong base on its own.

Now, as Bihar heads towards the 2025 elections, the situation looks tense and uncertain. People are not just choosing between parties — they are deciding the future of Bihar’s leadership, identity, and direction.

NDA and the INDIA alliance. Both sides are trying to show strength and unity but the ground reality is full of confusion.

On one side, the NDA is led by the BJP and JDU. After many ups and downs Nitish Kumar is once again standing with the BJP. For the BJP, Bihar is important not only to keep  strong presence in the northern belt but also to show that the “Modi factor” still works in state politics. Nitish Kumar, despite losing popularity among some voters, is still seen as a leader with experience and administrative control.

In the same alliance, Chirag Paswan, the young face of LJP (Ram Vilas), is also an important player. His party may not have big numbers but Chirag’s image as a youth and Dalit leader makes him a deciding factor in many seats. He is trying to project himself as “Modi’s Hanuman” again

On the other hand, the INDIA bloc is led by RJD, Congress, and Left parties. Tejashwi Yadav is trying to connect with young voters through his message of jobs and change. He presents himself as the “next-generation leader” of Bihar. But alliance coordination and seat-sharing was big challenge. Congress still looks weak on the ground and depends heavily on RJD’s base.

Smaller parties like HAM, VIP, and AIMIM are also active, trying to gain influence in specific caste or regional areas. Their support or opposition can decide close contest in many districts.

Overall, both alliances are strong as of presented image, but internal rivalries and leadership issues will decide who truly controls Bihar’s political battlefield in 2025.

Every election in Bihar revolves around some main issues that directly affect people’s lives. In 2025, these issues are almost the same as before but people’s expectations have increased a lot.

The biggest issue is unemployment. Many young people in Bihar still move to other states for jobs as jobs in Bihar lacks. Tejashwi Yadav is focusing on this topic strongly, promising new jobs and better opportunities. The BJP and JDU, on the other hand, highlights the development work done under Modi and Nitish’s leadership, like roads, electricity, and infrastructure growth.

The second major issue is law and order. People still remember the “jungle raj” image from the RJD era, and NDA leaders continue to use it as a strong talking point. But recent reports of rising crime in some areas is also giving the opposition a chance to hit back.

Caste politics still plays a big role. Yadavs, Kurmis, Dalits are all crucial voter groups and every party is trying to secure their support by social balance and ticket distribution.

Another big factor is the Modi wave. Many people still trust PM Modi’s leadership at the national level. The question is whether that popularity will convert into votes for BJP and its allies in Bihar.

Apart from these, migration, education quality, and price rise are also important talking points in villages and towns. People want better governance and gorundresultsnot just speeches and promises.

In short, the 2025 Bihar election is not just about who win it’s about who can convince people that their vision will actually bring change on the ground.

Public Mood:

The mood of the people in Bihar is mixed and changing fast as comapre to old era. Many voters are watching the working of all parties closely but still haven’t fully decided which side to support. The youth, especially those facing unemployment are becoming more vocal and active on social media. They want real change not just promised delivered in speeches.

In cities like Patna, Gaya, and Muzaffarpur, people are talking more about jobs, infrastructure and better education. In small towns and villages, issues like electricity, law and order and local roads are still the main concern. The older generation still trusts Nitish Kumar for his experience while group of some youth is showing interest in Tejashwi Yadav’s message.

At the same time, BJP continues to have a strong base due to the Modi Wave factor and its strong organization at the booth level. However, some people are also showing signs of fatigue like they want fresh faces and new ideas within the same alliance.

Overall, the public mood is neither fully pro-NDA nor strongly pro-RJD. It is more about performance and credibility. As of now, the hawa seems balanced but in Bihar politics, the real wave often comes when Nitish Chacha enters.

Conclusion:

One thing is clear this election is not just about power, it’s about legacy, trust, and the direction Bihar will take in the next five years. Every party, from BJP–JDU to RJD–Congress, is fighting not only to win seats but also to prove who truly understands the people’s pulse.

Nitish Kumar’s long political journey is again being tested. Tejashwi Yadav is trying to present himself as the face of new Bihar, while Chirag Paswan is building his space among young and Dalit voters. On the other hand, BJP wants to show that its leadership under Modi still connects strongly with the people.

Right now, the battle looks balanced full of strategies, caste balancing and last-minute surprises. Bihar’s voters have always been sharp and emotional in their choices and this time they too, their decision will shape not just the state but also the political mood of India.

In Day 2 of Awaaz-e-Bihar, we will explore how Nitish Kumar’s declining popularity, RJD’s old mentality and Tejashwi Yadav’s youth-driven strategy are reshaping the entire political equation.
